Grants.gov makes it easy for users to locate, learn about, and apply for federal funding opportunities.
We understand that once users have identified a list of qualifying opportunities, they often want to save their search results, share them with other stakeholders within their organization, and organize the relevant information according to their own internal needs.
With our latest update to the Search Grants page, Export Detailed Data, we have addressed users’ desire to export more comprehensive information about a set of opportunities.
What Is the Update to the Export Feature?
Now, when using the Export Detailed Data feature, users can download a single file containing a large set of relevant data for up to 2,500 search results.
Once downloaded, the data can be accessed offline. This file contains a broad set of data related to the opportunities that match the user’s search criteria, including most of the information provided with the grantor’s synopsis or forecast.
By default, it is downloaded in a CSV (comma-separated values) format. The CSV is easy to open with spreadsheet software.
Please note: Because the new tool downloads large amounts of raw data pertaining to a user’s search results, users may prefer to open the file with spreadsheet software that offers text control and formatting, depending on their unique needs.
The new feature allows users to export up to 2,500 results at a time. Users looking to download more than 2,500 results at once should choose the XML format, rather than CSV.
What’s Different and Improved from the Previous Version of This Feature?
In short: We’ve improved the functionality. Now, users can extract all of the raw, unfiltered data affiliated with the specific criteria and filters that they applied when conducting their search. This may be especially useful to those who perform the same search on a regular basis, allowing them to manipulate and update data according to their own unique needs.
When Can This New Feature Be Used?
That’s the best part: This feature has already been launched, and users can begin enjoying its streamlined benefits anytime. After your search is completed to your satisfaction, use the link at the top of your results that says Export Detailed Data.
