We know that efficiency makes all the difference when it comes to researching, publishing, and searching for funding opportunities.

But over time, as new resources and content have been added, the Grants.gov header navigation menu has grown more complex—sometimes making it harder to locate what you need. A few modifications will address this.

In the coming months, Grants.gov will release an update focusing specifically on the top (header) navigation menu. The update will make it easier to find key resources by:

  • Reducing duplicated links and pathways
  • Minimizing clicking and scrolling among high-traffic pathways
  • Organizing information in a more intuitive way
  • Consolidating related content into clearer groupings
  • Aligning with federal standards for web design

Examples include:

1. The Applicants menu will go from 9 links under 3 subheaders to just 4 high-priority links in 1 section.

2. The Forms menu will go from 12 links and 3 subheaders to just 9 links under 2 sections. 

3. The System-to-System menu currently shows 3 subheaders and 18 links; going forward, it will have just 1 section with 5 links.

These are just a few of the ways we’re improving your ability to find information and navigate Grants.gov. The changes reflect how users interact with the site today, including increased reliance on search and contextual navigation within pages. 

Please note: These updates are not expected to change the core experience on Grants.gov. All the existing information will remain accessible. 

If you have saved links to pages that no longer appear in the top navigation menus, those links will continue to work. Pages removed from the header menus can still be accessed through section navigation menus or by using the site search feature.  

This update is part of a broader effort to improve usability across Grants.gov while maintaining the stability and functionality users depend on. By simplifying navigation and reducing clutter, we aim to make it easier to move through the site and access the resources you need.
